Coed Initiation Rites

The thing about the food culture

In a few days, it's that time again, the families will meet, the menu is selected, the table should be covered pretty. It is certainly a nice meeting and the hostess tries hard.
And what about during the year?
When eaten together because every day, or eat any for themselves, work-or school-conditioned? Ago, when we Years, even with friends across the pond to visit were, there was a bad argument between the couple, where we were guests. The husband (a successful and very well-off businessman) said, namely, that he attached great importance to a daily dinner. Prepared by the housewife and not brought from any deli. The hostess is an excellent cook, unfortunately, they had many other interests that have left her little time. And no desire to cook a meal every day. The couple is now divorced long ago, after 25 years. This was certainly not now alone at the dinner. But I found it significant.
We have every day a warm, home-made food on the table, we are taking together. Just as it looks at one of the children, the other has the time to have lunch together at home, unfortunately, not always. Sometimes not even on Sunday. But if possible, boil the daughter-in fine dining, and for their children, there is baby food only in an absolute emergency.
And we go on holiday in recent years, mostly at home Signore. To Sicily. There is any, even the most simple food, celebrated. Since you like to eat, they meet during the week, after school, after work, probably why they have also always a full house.
Also in this year's holiday to me is again the very different deal struck in Tuscany. Actually, already at the Lake Garda one of the same restaurant. Where we hunt because it is never based on the 5 stars. But usually go to a very simple trattoria. Where the locals dine, it is best placed. The tables are always covered beautifully, even in simple restaurants. There are a starter, a pasta dish often, then the main meal is being served with separate salads, followed by a delicious dessert and then fruit, in the end the espresso. Which shall never fail. And that can certainly all 2 - to 3 hours. You take your time. The bill, however, exceeds our calculations here a lot, and I wonder because, as people can afford it. However, I can eat these portions never, we always restrict ourselves to a smaller selection, but are also always served courteous.
The seats are assigned one, it is not easy to go somewhere. This I have experienced in the U.S. and Australia Sun Then course after course is applied, always so that all can eat together. There is no Gemansche on a huge plate, through which one must work through the first time.
How does it work here? This is usually the restaurant, it's a normal restaurant serving everything but the soup course and the dessert on a plate, maybe the salad is extra. People are usually in a hurry, the elbows are resting on the table, dealing with knife and fork ready fuss. No one waits to begin until all of what may lie on serving, because who wants to eat already cold. What to do with the napkin? No idea.
Or you eat in fast food, the fries are dumped on the tray, and then you eat it with your fingers. Since it horrifies me.
No one will now take on a different food culture need, we are now living here before. But something nice, friendly, a little bit like the French beautifully, for example, that would be! And the children should learn how properly cooked and eaten. That one takes the time for a nice meal together. So I would imagine that.
